La multinazionale Iveco Defence Vehicles del gruppo CNH Industrial NV, che ha sede a Bolzano si è aggiudicata una commessa del Ministero della Difesa olandese per la fornitura di 1.275 veicoli 4x4 blindati multiruolo denominati 12kN. Il contratto fa parte del programma generale per il rinnovamento dei veicoli militari ruotati della Difesa olandese che prevede consegne tra il 2022 e il 2026.
Il mezzo oggetto del contratto è una versione specifica dell'MTV (Medium Tactical Vehicle) di Iveco Defence Vehicles, un blindato progettato con l'obiettivo di unire la notevole mobilità tattica 4x4 con ottimali prestazioni off-road ed elevata protezione dell'equipaggio, oltre a un'eccellente capacità di carico utile.
La capacità di integrazione dei sistemi e la modularità sono garantite in tutte le varianti di gamma:
- hard top,
- soft top,
- pick-up,
- trasporto feriti
- e trasporto del personale,
al fine di supportare tutte le tipologie di utenti militari:
- esercito,
- truppe anfibie,
- marina,
- aeronautica,
- corpi speciali
- e polizia militare.
Elevata affidabilità, facilità di manutenzione e ridotti costi del ciclo di vita sono stati i requisiti chiave nella progettazione dell'MTV, orientando quindi la scelta dei principali gruppi e sistemi verso componenti con prestazioni e affidabilità collaudate per milioni di chilometri nelle condizioni ambientali più impegnative e diversificate.
Nel corso degli anni, Iveco Defence Vehicles ha già fornito all'Esercito olandese numerosi veicoli provenienti dalla sua vasta gamma di prodotti commerciali e militari, come:
- i camion Iveco Stralis 6x2 a lungo raggio,
- il Trakker 8x8 per i Vigili del Fuoco dell'Esercito
- e l'EuroCargo 4x4 forniti ai Marines olandesi per i territori dei Caraibi.
Questa commessa rappresenta una tappa fondamentale nel consolidamento della partnership strategica tra il Ministero della Difesa olandese e Iveco Defence Vehicles, confermando ancora una volta la leadership dell'azienda italiana nel segmento dei veicoli multiruolo per le missioni di difesa e sicurezza nazionale

IVECO DEFENCE VEHICLES SIGNS CONTRACT TO DELIVER AN INITIAL 918 MEDIUM MULTIROLE
Following the award announced in September 2019, Iveco Defence Vehicles has signed a contract with the Dutch Ministry of Defence to initially provide 918 medium multirole protected vehicles denominated “12kN”. The signing ceremony was held on November 28, 2019 at the NIDV exhibition in Rotterdam, The Netherlands in the presence of Vice Admiral Arie Jan de Waard, Director of the Defence Material Organization (DMO).
The Netherlands sign a contract for 918 12kN vehicles with Iveco Defence Vehicles
During the NIDV Exhibition Defence & Security, which took place in Rotterdam on 28 November, the Dutch Ministry of Defence signed the contract announced in September 2019 for the acquisition of a new 4×4 vehicle known as 12kN. The signing ceremony was attended by the Director of the Defence Material Organisation (DMO), Vice Admiral Arie Jan de Waard.
The contract includes the development and the provision of 918 vehicles. As the name indicates, the vehicle will have a GVW of around 12 tonnes, which fills the gap between the new Light Multirole Vehicle, known as LMV 2, which GVW is of 8-8.5 tonnes, and the MMV, which GVW is around 16-16.5 tonnes. The vehicle will be based on a chassis with a considerable ground clearance, to which different cabins will be fitted; it is unclear if the 12kN will have two chassis with different wheelbases, as it is the case i.e. for the LMV.
EDR On-Line understands that the 12kN will be available in many configurations, one of them being visible in the artist impression released by Iveco DV at the Rotterdam exhibition, which is fitted with a protected cabin hosting five persons, the rear part being non protected, the vehicle being in the pick-up configuration. A version with full-extended cabin, adding three more seats should also be available, as well as many other specialised versions, both protected and non-protected. The 12kN will be employed not only by the Koninklijke Landmacht (Army), but also by the other services, Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Air Force), the Koninklijke Marine (Navy) and the Koninklijke Marechaussee (Gendarmerie), hence the high number of variants.
Iveco DV is currently hastily working on the vehicle development; the prototype should be ready by fall 2021, to start company trials by late that year, acceptance trials by the customer being scheduled for 2022, production to be launched thereafter.
The contract signed at the Rotterdam exhibition is short 357 vehicles compared to the number announced in September; these will be ordered with follow-on contracts, depending on budget availability.
