I rappresentanti del MoD olandese e della IVECO Defence Vehicles hanno di recente stipulato un contratto per lo sviluppo e la produzione di 918 veicoli blindati 4x4 12kN (secondo la denominazione olandese).
Gli olandesi avevano un requisito per oltre 1200 veicoli intermedi tra il VTML Lince e il VTMM Orso, entrambi veicoli fuoristrada 4×4 MRAP, Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected, pensati per poter resistere ad esplosioni di mine e di IED.
La società italiana IVECO DV ha reso pubblico un primo disegno del nuovo veicolo protetto che avrà un peso in ordine di combattimento di circa 12 tonnellate ed andrà a colmare l’attuale divario tra il nuovo veicolo leggero multiruolo, noto come LMV 2, del peso di 8-8,5 tonnellate, e lo MMV, di circa 16 -16,5 tonn.
Il blindato sarà basato su di un telaio con una notevole altezza dal suolo per attutire gli effetti di eventuali esplosioni sotto-pancia. Il telaio è progettato per molteplici configurazioni di abitacolo e piano di carico. Il veicolo protetto 12kN sarà distribuito in diverse versioni alle FF.AA. ed alla Gendarmeria olandesi dopo il 2022; terminati i test, inizierà la produzione di serie.
La cerimonia della firma si è tenuta presso il salone NIDV di Rotterdam alla presenza, per i Paesi Bassi, del vice ammiraglio Arie Jan de Waard, direttore della difesa Organizzazione materiale (DMO). L’acquisizione fa parte del “Programma generale della difesa per il rinnovamento dei veicoli militari ruotati”, con forniture previste dal 2022 al 2026.
Il veicolo “MTV” (Medium Tactical Vehicle) di Iveco Defence Vehicles è progettato con l’obiettivo di unire la notevole mobilità tattica 4×4 con ottimali prestazioni off-road ed elevata protezione dell’equipaggio, oltre a un’eccellente capacità di carico utile, elevata affidabilità, facilità di manutenzione e ridotti costi del ciclo di vita, requisiti chiave nella progettazione dell’MTV; la società ha scelto componenti con prestazioni e affidabilità collaudate per milioni di chilometri nelle condizioni ambientali più impegnative e diversificate.
Nel corso degli anni, Iveco Defence Vehicles ha fornito all’Esercito Olandese numerosi veicoli provenienti dalla sua vasta gamma di prodotti commerciali e militari, come i camion IVECO Stralis 6×2 a lungo raggio, il Trakker 8×8 per i vigili del fuoco dell’esercito e l’EuroCargo 4×4 forniti ai marines olandesi.

Netherlands orders 918 'IVECO 12kN' armoured vehicles
Representatives of the Dutch MoD and IVECO Defence Vehicles recently signed a contract for the development and production of 918 'IVECO 12kN' 4×4 armoured vehicles (according to the Dutch designation).
The Dutch had a requirement for more than 1,200 intermediate vehicles between the VTML Lince and VTMM Bear, both 4×4 MRAP, Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected, off-road vehicles designed to withstand mine and IED explosions. Italian company IVECO DV has released an early drawing of the new protected vehicle, which will have a combat weight of around 12 tonnes and will close the current gap between the new light multi-role vehicle, known as the LMV 2, weighing 8-8.5 tonnes, and the MMV, weighing around 16-16.5 tonnes.
The armoured vehicle will be based on a chassis with considerable ground clearance to cushion the effects of any under-belly explosions. The chassis is designed for multiple cockpit and deck configurations. The 12kN protected vehicle will be distributed in different versions to the Dutch Armed Forces and Gendarmerie after 2022; once testing is complete, series production will begin.
The signing ceremony was held at the NIDV show in Rotterdam in the presence, for the Netherlands, of Vice Admiral Arie Jan de Waard, Director of Defence Material Organisation (DMO). The acquisition is part of the 'General Defence Programme for the Renewal of Wheeled Military Vehicles', with deliveries planned from 2022 to 2026.
