Il Design Bureau Nevskoe ha presentato Varan, un nuovo concetto di portaerei e una nuova universal landing ship (UDC). 

Il Nevsky Design Bureau (PKB, parte della United Shipbuilding Corporation) ha sviluppato due nuovi progetti di navi tuttoponte, in particolare la Varan universal sea ship (UMK) e una nuova universal landing ship (UDC). 

La nuova unità denominata "Varan" sarà una unità portaerei, caratterizzata da un alto grado di automazione e dalla possibilità di utilizzare sistemi robotici. Potrà trasportare 24 velivoli multiruolo, sei elicotteri e fino a 20 velivoli senza pilota tra UCAV e UAV.

Il dislocamento della nave sarà pari a circa 45 mila tonnellate, una lunghezza di circa 250 m, una larghezza di 65 m, un pescaggio lungo la linea di galleggiamento di 9 m. 

La "Varan" dovrà essere in grado di raggiungere una velocità di 26 nodi.

Il dislocamento della nave d’assalto anfibio denominata “UDC” sarà di circa 30 mila tonnellate. La lunghezza della nave raggiungerà circa 220 m, la larghezza 42 m, il pescaggio lungo la linea di galleggiamento sarà di 7 m. 

La nuova UDC dovrà essere in grado di sviluppare una velocità di circa 24 nodi. Avrà sette siti di atterraggio per elicotteri sul ponte continuo della nave.

Nevskoe PKB è uno dei maggiori sviluppatori nazionali di unità militari e non e l'unico progettista di portaerei e complessi di addestramento in Russia.

Russian Navy: Nevskoe Design Bureau unveils Varan, a new aircraft carrier concept

The Nevsky Design Bureau (PKB, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) has developed two new all-deck ship designs, namely the Varan universal sea ship (UMK) and a new universal landing ship (UDC). 

The new unit called 'Varan' will be an aircraft carrier, characterised by a high degree of automation and the possibility of using robotic systems. It will be able to carry 24 multi-role aircraft, six helicopters and up to 20 unmanned UCAVs and UAVs.

The displacement of the ship will be about 45 thousand tonnes, with a length of about 250 m, a width of 65 m, and a draught along the waterline of 9 m. 

The "Varan" will be able to reach a speed of 26 knots.

The displacement of the amphibious assault ship named "UDC" will be about 30 thousand tons. The length of the ship will be about 220 m, the width 42 m, and the draught along the waterline will be 7 m. 

The new UDC will be able to develop a speed of about 24 knots. It will have seven helicopter landing sites on the ship's continuous deck.
